Mortal Lessons: An Evening With David Liban

Join us for the Denver premiere of David Liban's feature documentary;

MORTAL LESSONS
Star Film Center
Thursday, February 26, 2009
7PM

It will appear as if this film is about death and dying, yet really it is about living life. We all die, yet few really deal with this fact in a healthy way. We avoid thinking about our death. Then when death strikes, we are devastated, in part, because we are unprepared. There are those who deal with death day-to-day, and have a healthier relationship with death. This film is about these people.

If we are able to see a death loss as more than grief, misery and suffering, but recognize the opportunity that death provides us, we can live a richer existence. Many of us live much of our lives by just going through the motions and wasting precious time. When we experience the death of a loved one, or you yourself have a terminal diagnosis, you realize that life is precious. Now if we could have this awareness without the tragedy of death, how much richer might our lives be?

This documentary profiles people who share their insights because they either work in the industry of death, end-of-life care, or whom themselves are terminally ill.

The story is told through the experiences of two remarkable women who are facing their own death, with just months to live. They have been battling cancer and represent some of the luckier of the terminally ill patients, in that they are beating the odds and surviving beyond the their life expectancies.
